THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 35-year-old motorist was killed in an accident after being run over by a KSRTC bus in Venjaramoodu. The Venjaramoodu police identified the dead as Biju of Konchira.

 
         Farmer commits suicide    
 
KALPETTA: A 53-year-old farmer was found hanging in a farm near his house at Kappiset near Pulpally in Wayanad. The Pulpally police identified the dead as Ajith Kumar of Kotakkappally.

 
         Two Idukki dam sluices shut, water level down to safe    
 
IDUKKI: Two of the five sluices of the Idukki dam, opened after a gap of 26 years on Thursday, were ordered to be closed by the Kerala government on Monday after the water at the reservoir came down to the "safe" level.

         Three found guilty in murder case    
 
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A court on Thursday found three persons guilty in the murder of a youth, Syed Ali, in Chala eight years ago. Sajeer alias Habeer, 29, and his brother Rafeeq, 24, of Sulaiman Street and Hussain Abbas, 25, of Puthen Road in Vallakkadavu, were found guilty by Thiruvananthapuram Additional District and Sessions Court – VI judge P.N. Seetha of murdering Syed Ali (22) of Vallakkadavu in Ruby Nagar, Chala, on September 6, 2010. The sentence will be pronounced on August 13.

KOCHI: The police have launched a probe into the recovery of a woman’s body from a drainage in the city. The body of Shailaja, 44, of Alappuzha, was found underneath the broken slabs of a major drainage that runs parallel to Banerjee road Thursday morning.
