Asianet talent contest 2008
in Ilford town hall
Asianet talent contest 2008 was held at Ilford town hall.
Talents from far and near within Europe including Vienna,
Aberdeen, Bristol, Leicester competed in the event. Chief
guests this time was renowned veteran actress KPAC Lalitha
and her son Sidharth. As ever Lalithamma was modest and soft
spoken with a sweet smile on her at most times. Sidharth was
stunned to see the big following he has in Europe. When Lalithamma
got on to the stage the audinced requested a song from her
and she willingly concurred with a song of "ellarum chollanu"
from the film "Neelakkuyil".
With regard to the talent contest, its popularity has grown
immensely in the past few years which are evident from the
level of participation and the levels of the talents. Asianet
Europe's Mr. Sreekumar have also offered a chance for the
participants to perform in "Jewels of Europe" which
is telecast in Asianet plus.
The categories for the competition and the performances rendered
were quite refreshing and colourful. The opening dance was
breathtaking. In the junior cinematic category, performance
by some cute little girls (Katelin Dharmajan & group)
was really mind blowing, considering the fact that some of
them are just little as 4-5 yrs old. Some of the events were
so great even though they did not win prizes due to the strict
guidelines on marking. The finale performance by Swaroop menon,
Vinod Haridas and Ragini Krishnadas was beyond words for its
professional touch. In the adult singing category Dr Ramkumar's(Hatfield)
"pramadavanam" could be considered the best ever
in Asianet talent history. Shibu Chacko (oxford) who won runner
up prize was also not far behind. Dhanuja Elsa Varghese (aberdeen)
won the female category for her song "mayangipoyi",
and Tommy mathew (Chichester) won runner up. The winners are
