JALANDHAR: Jalandhar diocese has come out with the claim in its four-page statement that the sexual allegations made against Bishop Franco Mulackal is a controversy to destroy Jalandhar diocese.  “Statements made against the bishop are just allegations but the media trial is squarely blaming Franco. The media should exercise restraint. There is controversy in the statements given by the nun”.

“The day the nun claims the bishop first abused her, the latter was not in Kottayam Kuravilangad seminary. The very next day the bishop took part in a function held at her home. She also received him happily.   Now, how can this be possible if the she had been sexually abused the day before? The nun estranged her relationship with the bishop after her relative complained to him against her,” Jalandhar diocese said in a statement.
