KOCHI: Parvathy, who received the State Award for the Best Actress, has said that she’d like to dedicate her award for the nurses in the state.

“I’m very happy about the award. My experience in acting in films like ‘Out of Syllabus’has helped me a lot to do this role,”she said.

Parvathy received the award for her performance in the movie ‘Take Off’that tells the story of the ordeal of Indian nurses in the city of Tikrit, Iraq, in 2014. The film won a Special Jury Award at the 48th International Film Festival of India in Goa and Parvathy won the award for Best Female Actor, becoming the first ever Indian film actor to win this award.

“I’d like to thank the director of the movie Mahesh Narayanan, and the other crew members. It’s a pleasure to see the movie produced by director Rajesh Pillai, who passed away last year, receiving many recognitions now. The other competitors for the award were Manju Warrier and Nimisha Sajayan,”she said.

The actress also said that the characters she played in movies had also helped her fight the different circumstances that she had to come across in her personal life. She added that the encouragement given by some of the members of the Women in Cinema Collective have also given her inspiration.

On a different note, Parvathy said that her parents have taught her to correct herself if she had done any mistakes, and that she’s not deterred by controversies as she has committed no mistakes.
