THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: State Film awards will be declared today in a few hours from now. Parvathy, for her acting in Take Off that told the story of Malayali nurses stranded in Iraqi detention centres, and Manju Warrier for her title role in Udaharanam Sujatha are reported to be in the last round of jury’s selection list. Sanju surendran’s Ethen Thottam is likely to win an important award.

Thondi Muthalum Driksakshiyum directed by Dileesh Pothen is expecting more than two awards. Fahadh Faasil and Suraj Venjaramoodu also have kept their hopes alive for their performance in the film. Nivin Pauly (Hey Jude), Asif Ali (Kattu), Biju Menon (Rakshadhikari Baiju Oppu) are the names doing the rounds for best actor award. For his performance in Kattu, Murlai Gopi’s name is there in the last list of supporting actors.

The main contestants for best film/director are Sanju Surendran (Ethen), Mahesh Narayanan (Take Off), Priyanandanan (Pathirakalam), Sudevan (Akatho Puratho) and  Arun Kumar Aravind (Kattu).

Out of the 110 entries, the films considered by the jury in the last round were S Durga, Ee Ma You, Parava, Eeda, Bhayanakam, Telescope, Pasu, Kinar, Swayam, Njangalude Nattil Oridavela and Viswasapoorvam Mansoor.

The jury headed by director TV Chandran will declare the awards. The announcement is to be made at around 12 noon today (Thursday).
