THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Differences among ministers over the construction of IMA plant in Palode has become public.

When Health Minister K K Shailaja came out in favour of the plant, Forest Minister K Raju said the final decision will be that of Environmental department.

“The minister said that there was no other place in the State for disposal of medical waste. The permission was given to the plant much earlier and the government will go ahead with the project,” she said.

It was proposed to build medical waste disposal plant at Peringamala under the initiative of IMA for disposal of waste from Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha. But there was strong public protest against this.
