       Land deal: Syro Malabar Church bishops meet tomorrow

KOCHI: At a time when the land dealings of the Syro Malabar Church has sparked a controversy, a bishops’ meet will be convened on Thursday. The meet will be held at the Archbishops House at 2 pm. Major Archbishop Cardinal Mar George Alancherry will take part in the meeting. 60 priests selected will attend the meeting. Along with it, a complaint of the priests will be sent to Pope tomorrow.

The land dealings had brought losses in the sale of properties in Kochi under the cardinal's leadership. The properties sold included 60 cents near Thrikkakara Bharat Matha College, 69 cents on Seaport-Airport road near Naipunya School, one acre at Kollamkodimugal near Kakkanad, 20 cents at Nilampathinjamukal near Inforpark and 54 cents near Maradu. All the documents were signed by Cardinal Mar George Alancherry.
