KOCHI: An ASI attached to the Kadavanthra police station in Ernakulam was found hanging in the office premises early Wednesday morning. He has been identified as P M Thomas aged 53. A police officer who came for duty this morning found him hanging. He soon informed the concerned including the sub inspector. City police commissioner, ACP, Mattancheri assistant collector soon reached the spot. The inquest proceedings were completed in their presence. The body will be handed over to his relatives after post mortem.

Initial reports say mental stress is the reason for taking the extreme step. Thomas was a native of Vallarpadom in Ernakulam. Thomas, who was in the control room for many years, was recently transferred to Kadavanthra police station.
