PATHANAMTHITTA: Sabarimala temple will be again known as Sree Dharma Sahstha temple. It was during the time of previous government that a notification was issued renaming Sree Dharma Shasthra temple as Shabarimala Ayyappa Swami temple.
Prayar Gopalakrishnan, who was the then president of Devaswom Board, had justified his step, saying that the name Sree Dharma Shastha temple was the name given to a number of temples in the State and Ayyappa Swamy Temple existed only in Sabarimala.
But, the new president A Padmakumar said that from time immemorial, Sabarimala temple was known as Sree Dharma Shastha temple and hence changing that name was not appropriate. A final decision on the name will be taken in the meeting to be held in the board meeting on Wednesday.
