KOZHIKODE: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said the CPM will strike alliances with parties that can get along with its ideologies. In the field of election, there should be clarity in policies and on the basis of that, political alliances will be formed.

He was inaugurating the CPM’s Kozhikode district conference on Tuesday.

“Though BJP is the main enemy, we shall not befriend them in order to defeat Congress. Both the Congress and the BJP are almost similar. Both are spokespersons of neo-liberalisation. Hence we can’t befriend one to defeat the other. It will not give the desired result. That is why the CPM is saying that Left unity should be enhanced. Along with that, the party will cooperate with parties with conformable ideologies,” he said.

Pinarayi said the government had been trying to raise an opposition to globalisation principles. “The Central government’s rule is steeped in corruption. It is making an encroachment into the federal power of states. A general platform will be formed to protect secularism,” he added.
