KOTTAYAM: CPM State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has said that though the BJP and Congress are the party’s enemies, BJP is the main enemy. The Congress has degraded itself into a party that supplies leaders to the BJP.

He was inaugurating delegates’ meeting of CPM Kottayam district conference.

“In the case of policies, there is no difference between the BJP and Congress. The BJP has subscribed to policies that favours imperialism. The Central government has been trying to saffronise the country using power,” he said.

Kodiyeri alleged that the Centre had been trying to destroy the Federal fabric of the nation. Only Corporates benefitted from the note ban.  “The Centre’s GST has been a setback for the development of the State. Under the BJP rule, industries and agriculture sector went for a toss. The number of famers’ suicide is more than that during the time of the UPA government.”

The CPM leader said the only achievement during Modi’s reign was that inequality increased in society. “The Prasar Bharati under the Centre has been made its campaign tool. India seized to be a country of peace after communal forces attained strength. The CPM will use any opportunity to oust BJP,” he said.
