KOCHI:  The NIA will soon file a petition seeking the custody of five Islamic State (IS) sympathisers who were arrested from Kannur in October last year. The accused, who allegedly attempted to migrate to Syria to join the terrorist organisation, were brought to Kochi on Monday from Viyyur Central Jail and produced before the NIA court here. The NIA had taken over the probe from the Kerala Police. They were later remanded in judicial custody and lodged at Kakkanad District Jail. The NIA earlier registered a case against the accused under Sections 38 and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
