THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police have arrested five classmates in connection with the death of a Thiruvananthapuram native and Aviation student. The arrested are Shalu, Elizabeth, Vaishnavi, Neethu and Shaija.

Thiruvananthapuram IPMS Aviation college student Athira had jumped from the top of the hotel where she was staying while doing internship at Karipur airport.

The first conclusion was that Athira had attempted suicide but her relatives alleged that she committed suicide after the classmates called her caste name. They also said that she fell down while she was being harassed.

Police filed a case after this complaint. The student, who had sustained serious injuries was first admitted to Kozhikode Medical College and then shifted to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College. But she succumbed to her injures later.
