THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 52-year-old man was arrested by the Kadinamkulam police on Monday for allegedly raping his minor niece. He had allegedly subjected his younger brother’s daughter to sexual abuse for around a year. The victim’s plight came to light when she confided in a teacher at her school, who alerted the Childline. Later, the child’s statement was recorded by the Child Welfare Committee, following which a case was registered by the Poojappura police. The case was transferred to the police station at Kadinamkulam. The accused was arrested by a team led by Attingal Inspector Anil Kumar. The accused, who has been booked under relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, was remanded in judicial custody after being produced at a local court.
